Liverpool is a city and metropolitan borough in Merseyside, England, UK. It is well known as a port and as the home town of The Beatles and many other music groups which became popular in the 1960s. A new wave of bands also emerged in the late 1970s and early '80s, making their mark on UK and worldwide pop culture.
The city has two top-tier football teams, Liverpool FC and Everton.
